Radiography Exam Review

Radiography Requirements:

To legally operate dental X-Ray equipment and perform dental radiographic procedures in Florida, a dental assistant must hold a current Florida Board-approved license in radiology. To obtain a license, one must pass the National Board (DANB) Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) exam.

Radiography Exam Review

This is a review of the basic concepts of oral and maxillofacial radiology, which covers the historical background of X-Rays, radiation physics, biology, radiation protection, infection control, dental X-ray machine components, dental film, digital receptor, anatomical landmarks, bitewings, periapical exposures, mounting films, and identifying and correcting exposure or processing errors. Participants will expose, process, mount, and evaluate the radiographs on manikins. In this hands-on review clinic session, participants will be prepared to take the written exam; take satisfactory periapical, bitewing, and occlusal radiographs; become familiar with dental panoramic and cephalometric radiographs; and self-analyze radiographic technical errors. This is an excellent review for dental assistants planning to take the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) to become a Licensed Dental Assistant (RDA).
